Niagara Falls Casino Reopen

After being closed for more than 4 months, Casino du Lac-Leamy Reopens with mixed reviews by regular players. Everything from reduced hours to disabled machines to required reservations are just some of the tipping points. Have a look at the article here:

Quebec is the second province in Canada to reopen its casinos. Alberta was the first (as they had the least amount of covid cases). Currently as of today, all of Alberta Casinos are open and operational.
As of today, most of Ontario has gone to stage 3 of its reopening (which allows casinos to reopen). However, because of the maximum capacity set by the province, the casinos dont see it worth reopening if they can only have 100 people.
Delta Gaming (because they are smaller) has announced that they will reopen most of its gaming centres tomorrow (Friday) but only allowing upto 100 people to play TapTix machines (Slots) where allowed. Bingo is not in the cards at this time. Delta however has been trying some other ideas like Facebook Bingo and Drive In Bingo. So far the Bingo players are responding quite positively.
Currently right now, the larger casinos (Fallsview-Niagara, Rama) are in talks with the gov't to set 'acceptable' maximum capacity limits for each property (cause it makes no sense that Wal-Mart can allow 1200 people but the casinos cant have more than 100??). A great example is Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls. It has close to 3100 slots, and has a maximum capacity of near 11,000 (being one of the largest casino in Canada). Mohegan Gaming Entertainment Group has been busy getting Fallsview ready for when they are allowed to reopen. By installing plexi-glass between slot machines and re-working the slot layout to promote social distancing and making necessary changed to make sure everyone is safe. Fallsview said its ready to welcome everyone back and hopes to work out a deal with the province very soon. No opening date has been announced yet. Caesars Windsor and Woodbine Entertainment are currently not in stage 3. It make be several more weeks before they are allowed to proceed to Stage 3.
This weekend will be the 'true test' for the Niagara Region. Since Toronto has been left back from transitioning to Stage 3, there are expected to be 'huge' crowds this weekend. There is even a viral video out on how Clifton Hill is not a safe zone (video shows almost everyone not wearing a mask and very little social distancing). HOCO (Clifton Hill) even had an employee test positive for covid. As a result, the city started a new campaign 'Crush the Curve'. They will have people out in bright yellow gear around the tourist area promoting social distancing and giving people advice. Will it help? I doubt it. Outsiders dont care.
As of late Thursday evening, the Niagara Region passed a mandatory mask bylaw. This will take effect Aug 1st. (too little too late?)
What ever happens, it looks like the Casinos in Ontario and around Niagara will remain shut for another week or two. Well keep you all updated if anything changes.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino reopens Thursday morning at 10 a.m. With the reopening, there are some important changes people need to know. Face masks are required. Instead, the 95,000-square-foot Casino Niagara and 200,000-square-foot Niagara Fallsview Casino will remain closed to the public as it navigates the “public health restrictions of a 50-person limit,” says Niagara Casinos president Richard Taylor. Great Canadian Gaming has finally declared that its casinos in Ontario and New Brunswick will reopen on the 28th of September! This is great news after months of closure. 11 casinos will reopen in total in Ontario, with a capacity limit of 50 people each. Table games will sadly remain closed for the time being.
