A couple of big stories broke this week that will impact the future of online gambling into two US states. The first will see Wynn Resorts partner with GAN for online casino gambling and sports betting in Michigan. GAN is slated to provide online services for the next 10 years in the Wolverine State.
Meanwhile, the monopoly for online poker in Pennsylvania may soon be ending. Last week, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) approved a license for 888 Holdings. This will open the door for WSOP.com to launch in the near future.
Wynn Resorts Partners With GAN
Earlier this week, news broke that Wynn Resorts has signed a 10-year partnership agreement with GAN to offer online gambling services in Michigan. GAN is a B2B supplier of online gambling products in legal US states. Under the deal, GAN will provide both online casino and online sports betting services.
Wynn Resorts operates in Michigan as Sault Ste. Company. They operate five tribal casinos in the state, meaning that Michigan residents will have up to five opportunities for online casinos and online sportsbooks. It is unclear at this time whether GAN will operate multiple skins or operate a single site in the state.

Other states, such as Delaware and New Jersey, offer online casino skins for each casino in the state. Since Wynn operates five casinos in Michigan, they could opt for a single website with the separate casinos offering their own signup bonuses and promotions to their customers.
According to Jeffrey B. Berman, CCO of GAN, “We look forward to powering the Wynn brand in Michigan with our highly optimized technology platform and enabling Wynn to efficiently invest their marketing capital to attract loyal sports betting and iGaming players. We are pleased to onboard Wynn, with its national casino brand and substantial Michigan-region patron base, as a major operator client and are excited at the opportunity presented by potential roll-outs in multiple additional states in the future.”
Online gambling is in its final phases of launch in Michigan. The projected timeline should see the state launch online services sometime in November. If that deadline is missed, it may be Spring 2021 before online gaming launches.
888 Holdings Granted Pennsylvania License

A new player in the Pennsylvania online poker market will arrive soon. On September 30th, the PGCB approved 888 Holdings for an interactive gaming manufacturer’s license. This approval will allow 888 Holdings to open either WSOP.com, 888 Poker, or both. Presently, PokerStars is the only online poker operator in Pennsylvania and enjoys a monopoly on the market.
It is likely that only WSOP.com will operate in the Keystone State. Caesars operates Harrah’s Philadelphia, making the WSOP.com brand a much more appealing offering than 888 Poker. The WSOP.com brand will also offer many more branding opportunities and the potential for inclusion in the interstate online poker network should Pennsylvania ever opt for that option.
